All Volunteer divers must be able to meet the minimum standards of our American Academy of Underwater Sciences compliant program. Including a swim & dive test, full dive physical w/chest x-ray.

The diver is responsible for the assoicated costs of the physical which may be completed by a Medical Doctor of there choice (no PA’s pleaseand may be asked to cover some costs for advanced training & certifications. These fees are only for the recovery of operational expenses for training media, generation of certification cards from both PADI & AAUS, AAUS individual membership fees, and dive trips/training that happen offsite (boat fees, housing and or food costs on catalina or elsewhere).

The funds requested are not for profit and you are not paying for instruction.

Please do not get physical until you have gone thru intial orientation that describes volunteer diver roles in a public aquarium environment and the continued commitment that is involved.

After successful completion of entire course and assoicated required dives, you will be a member of the California Science Center Dive Team Member, a PADI rescue diver with at least one specialty (probably nitrox), certified AAUS Scientific Diver, and an individual member of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences.
