Event Location 50 E 43rd St, NY, NY

Taking dramatic images of humpback whales takes patience, skills, and when it’s in the chilly waters of Newfoundland surrounded by icebergs, a good drysuit.

A special Beneath the Sea edition of NYUPS on March 29th, features two experts in diving with and photographing the gentle giants of Newfoundland, Jill Heinherth and Rick Stanley. As a joint meeting with the Sea Gypsies, we’ll hear from Rick—an expert in the wild waters of Newfoundland, with more than 15 years of experience interacting with the whales.

Photographer and explorer extraordinaire, Jill Heinerth, will present her images, videos and stories from being in the water with the massive whales and towering icebergs. She’ll give tips and techniques for photographing these two massive marvels and inspire us for our next imaging adventure.

When: Wednesday, March 25th at 7PM
