"Brick Trader’s Cove to Host

Blitz the Bay’s Bottom 2015"

Mantoloking Bridge

On Sunday, May 31st, from 9am to 2pm, Brick Township will host the NJDEP’s "Blitz the Bay" program 2015 with a special twist. Instead of cleaning up salt marshes and tributaries, we’re looking for volunteer SCUBA Divers with skill sets to dive Northeast waters to "Blitz the Bay’s Bottom" and collect debris left over from Superstorm Sandy.

No one has explored under the Mantoloking Bridge since Superstorm Sandy. No one knows what’s there. This is a one time limited, special invitation event. Divers Two and Air, Land & Sea Environmental Management Services, Inc. have worked with Brick Township to obtain special permits to "do the dive." Pioneer Hose Fire Company - Station #22 Underwater Rescue Divers will be assisting in full force.

This is a special event and will be limited to 50 divers. Please join us by contacting Divers Two at our e-mail or phone us at 732-776-7755.

Ray,
I had my doubts about that dive to begin with.

Here is the Letter that was sent out:

Unfortunately, our Sunday "Blitz the Bay" program 2015 is cancelled until further notice. Joe Skimmons, Dan Lieb and John Zingis checked out the site and did a test dive and found the it to be logistically inappropriate at this time. We will announce other diver clean-up events as they present themselves.
