Intova Camera

I’m in the process of getting a camera for diving. My LDS sells Sealife and Intova. I am considering the DC-1200 and Intova IC-12. He said the Intova is about half the price of the Sealife and that he had just starting selling them. Does anyone have any experience with the Intova. I’ve looked on online but can’t seem to find too much on them and I’ve even went to their website and its pretty vague too compared to Sealifes. I have seen the few posts on other websites that make it sound like they have a couple of problems.

Hey Adam,

Was looking at exactly the same models a couple of days ago. The reviews on LeisurePro include some posted videos and photos taken with the Intova Camera and I was really impressed. There also looks to be a SeaLife Mini coming out in late March, but not in time for my trip to the Keys. I ended up going with a housing that’s now available for my particular Canon PowerShot camera that I love. Probably would have gone with the 12mp Intova with the beefier housing and greater depth rating. Just my 2 cents.

I have an Intova that is a couple years old, I think it is the IC 700 or something like that. It is a 7meg camera and the photos and video are pretty damn good for the cost. This coming from a professional photographer. Quality is on par with the Sea camera you are looking at with a huge savings. Buy a good flash and you are in business. The Intova flash I have is not the best, spend the extra cash on that!

I dove earlier this year with a guy for week that had a sealife. It took pretty good pictures, but comparing side by side with my Sea and Sea, it appeared the biggest difference was the strobe. We were able to fit my stobe to his and it made a big difference for a dive. The advice my dive shop gave me was, buy the best you can afford and make sure that you get the accessory’s you want. Good advice, since the discontinued mine 8 months after launch.

Good luck in your choice.

My advive would be to but a waterproof camera(good to 10 feet..), then by a housing for it will never have a water problem this way. These housings will have a wet lens attachment and u can buy a strobe also. Maybe 600 for all but the camera and they are cheap.
