My daughter is organizing the first annual Deep Creek Lake clean up on Sept. 7-8th this year if we can get enough divers to participate we might be able to get funding through local business to give out T-shirts and free food

1. Is this a 1 day event

So far its only a one day trying to get the Maryland DNR involved to maybe provide some support boats, Yes our local Dive Shop Fins Upp Scuba will be providing air. and most of the clean up will be close to shore and around docks so the dives will be relatively shallow. The good part is that what treasures you find are yours to keep.

I am interested in joining the cleanup. It seems its getting close to that time. I do however have some questions.

Is there any webpage or anything that describes what all is going to go on, food, etc?

Is air/bottles being provided or do I need to bring my own?

Any sort of phone number to call where a planner/event organizer will be available to talk to?

What is the number of divers they expect to participate, or goal?

I am sorry been without access for a while yes this is happening but had to be pushed back to the 21st of Sept. Fins Upp Scuba will provide air fills, We aren’t sure about food as of yet as the DNR is a little worried about that. We hope to get as many divers involved as possible for more info you can call Eric at Fins Upp 304-851-3111 we hope to see you there

I don’t think that DNR will bother the divers. I was talking to my friend who works for DNR and he said they didn’t know about it but if they did they would participate in the cleanup as well.

You know I was thinking about this the other day. I would love to get something together I will post something as soon as I can get with the DNR supervisor and see if we can get some help from that side.

What was the issue they had last year? It seems quite a few people intended to show up and then it got cancelled as it got closer to the date. It didn’t make sense for DNR to say they approve of divers cleaning the water up but then turn around and cancel it. Perhaps I can talk to some people and ask them what the deal is.
