If you HAD to spend $100 right now on a scuba gift, what would you buy? Can be equipment, dive trip, training course...anything.

A new pair of Henderson Insta Dry Booties, size 10. Unfortunately, Henderson discontinued them because they tend to delaminate. Nothing my wetsuit glue doesn’t fix. I love my Insta Drys because they aren’t neoprene and don’t hold smell. Plus they dry in 15 minutes. Please Henderson bring these back!!! They cost just under $100 btw.

I did just buy a 5/3 Hyperstretch hooded vest for my wife for $95. Now she will have 3mm under her 9mm custom wetsuit. 12mm total! Yikes!

A "Dive Alert" for your low pressure inflator would be a good choice..

Make sure it’s the real thing, I bought an "Aqua" copy and no repair parts are available, the good news was that yes the Captain can hear it over the noise of the diesel when it sticks on on the dive deck :(

I use the Aquatec integrated Octo with the built in SubDuck/Dive Alert. They also make a power inflator with it built in. I suggest these 2 models to my students and club members over the others. As for not being able to get service parts I have contacted Aquatec and can get service parts for the Octo. As for the power inflator many manufacturers suggest use until failure and then replacement. Standard replacement parts will work for the power inflator at any rate.

The other reason for my suggestion and opinion is that last year there was a recall on many of the add on alerts for failures associated with the couplers. The use of these separates actually adds an extra failure point to your gear and of course as Murphy’s Law would have it that law reared its ugly head. By using either of the Aquatec models that build in the noise maker that extra failure point isn’t there.

I picked up two of the Oceanic Shadow masks! Loved the low profile. It may end up being two low profile though as my lashes hit the lens, which is very annoying. Still playing with it & hope it works. If not, then they will make great spares for students or loaners.

Anything under $100 at a dive shop is junk. $100 for a gift is to someone you love is crap. Anyone else doesn’t get anything. Take your $100 cash in hand and gift it to help make a small child’s lonely holiday a lot better.

There’s lots of stuff at a dive shop under $100 that is of great quality and absolutely necessary.
My local shop has most of their masks under $100. I need a couple of Hydros. That will be $100 and I can’t get my tanks filled without it. I like the donation angle of giving to others that can’t afford fluff. My local dive shop had a drawing for a dive trip and all the money went to the local veterans hospital. I bought a ticket for $25 for the chance.:)

$100.00 Gift is very generous! There are many good things for few dollars at the dive shop. Many cannot give anything with the economy and the state of there finances. Some are blessed and can give generously if they choose to! If someone’s love is dependent on the $ they do not have love or known what love is. Love is giving of one’s self expecting nothing in return. It feels good to get something back but expecting it is selfishness. Give to others as your heart and conscience guides you. It may be your time, gift, $ or wishing others a Merry Christmas. It takes $ to provide us with our needs in our current society but many are confused about love and helping other including lonely childen during the holidays! Give what you can from the heart whether it is to family loved ones or a charity that helps others with time or $

I guess that’s your opinion and you are entitled to it but considering others have answered the question with good valid suggestions, I’d have to say it’s your opinion that stinks like crap.

Based on the suggestions made here already if you can’t find something worth buying in a dive shop for under $100 I’d say you’re shopping in the wrong dive shop or you have too much money and can afford to spend it on more expensive toys.

This message is rude, insulting, and distasteful in my opinion. For many people, including some on this forum, $100 may be all they have to spend on a gift for a loved one and implying that anything they may choose to buy is crap is a crap suggestion.

I agree with Agojo...new Rx mask. Mine grew legs and walked away in the attic last month and here I am in Costa Rica looking at fuzzy critters!
