Going to panama march 16-23. Looking at isla Tobago, but heading west on the nineteenth. Traveling with someone, but he isn’t certed. :(. Any recommendations of where to go, and anyone who wants to go? First time in panama, been diving lower Antilles, Monterey ca, puget sound wa, similan islands Thailand.

I wanted to also suggest that if you have a certain date that you’re looking to get in the water, search for buddies near your dive location and send a private message to them to with details to see if they’re available. You can also use the dive sites page to find areas to dive. Let me know if you have any questions.

There isn’t much listed on our ScubaEarth page for that area...but it’s a start:

If you find more dive sites during your research, please consider adding them to DiveBuddy.

I am not sure about diving Taboga, not much to see. Small and lovely Island about 45 min. ferry ride from Panama City. The last time I was there 3 years ago. The small patches of reef are almost dead and the rest are rocks. Visibility depends on the time of the year and weather. However if you plan spear fishing you might get fun.
I would recommend you to go to Bocas Del Toro. You will enjoy diving there. Town has 3 or 4 dive shops that will pair you up with someone. Hope this helps a bit.
