An old Spanish Rum Runner, all that is left is about 3 foot high wall of the hull. Neat dive though. Out from west beach in Gulf Shores, AL. Due south 150 yards from entry, directly in front of Bahama Bob’s.
This 200’ rum runner is located in 15 to 25 feet of water. It covers approximately 300 square yards. This wreck lies just beyond the sand bar, making it an ideal beach diving opportunity. Night diving on the Whiskey proves to be a very rewarding experience as you can almost always see things that go unnoticed during daylight hours.

The Whiskey Wreck is a shore dive from Gulf Shores located roughly 150 yards due south of the beach and Bahama Bob’s Beachshore Cafe. It lays just beyond a sandbar offshore, and that sandbar provides a useful landmark and staging area. The wreck is a 200-foot rum runner boat in less than 20 feet of water. That depth is shallow enough for snorkelers, non-divers on a Discover Scuba Dive and Open Water diving students alike to enjoy the wreck. The visibility at the site is usually in the 10 to 15-foot range, however. The Whiskey Wreck is also a popular area location for night dives.
