AZ-DiveBuddies are heading Back to Rocky Point April 26th – 28th Who’s up for another fun diving weekend?
We will likely be staying at Hotel Vina Del Mar and do a 2 tank boat dive off the Serenas De La Noches on Saturday. This is another one of our informal at cost trips were we carpool/caravan and split costs.

We always go to San Carlos. How is the diving in Rocky Point?

Rocky Point is good diving. Bird Island has a bigger Sea Lion population than Seal Island in San Carlos.

As for general fish population San Carlos beats Rocky Point.

It’s also a matter of a 3.5 hour drive vs 8.5 hours.

Hi Sean the link you responded to was from 2013 although I dive in Rocky Point regularly with AZ-Divebuddies divers club. They get a discount of $20 on boat trips to Bird Island which is where a large colony of Sea Lions live. I highly suggest AZ-Divebuddies if you plan to be active divers. They are a great alternative to the regular dive shop politics. I’m sorry to hear that conditions were so bad. Rock Point is very susceptible to weather conditions hampering dives. That may change in a few year if plans to dredge for a new cruise ship port are carried out. It isn’t always like that in fact sometimes vis will top 75’.
