Besides the makeup, tshirt and ccard, what else makes this a Zombie dive course? We all know zombies can’t swim, and they don’t need to breathe, so they should eventually sink to the bottom or float mindlessly on the surface, thrashing about when a living diver comes by.
So are you going to have Zombies on the bottom or surface of the water that living divers must evade and/or humanely dispose of?
Btw, brillant idea! Looks like a lot of fun.

Yes. On the first dive its a search and recovery in one of the submerged vehicles at Dutch Springs where you will have to bring up equipment that you can use to deal with zombies. And on the second dive there will be an instructor leading the dive and several divemaster "tagging" you with crayons which will show up in a blacklight after the dive. They will be dressed in zombie "gear" and if you are tagged you are now a zombie too. Something different.

That sounds cool! At the end of the dive, the divers that did not turn into zombies should be able to shoot paintballs at the zombies :)

I might have to add that in there! Haha! Aim for the head!

Did you guys create this specialty course? Can other PADI instructors teach it also?
We need more cool courses like this to attract new divers.

An instructor frind of mine from Connecticut designed it and submitted it to PADI for the distinctive specialty. Anyone can write a course and submit it. I have sent one in for Full Face Mask Diving. But if that seems like too much work, Woody the instructor will goto your location to teach the course. He is going to Utila to teach it over the summer. click the link above and it will provide you with his info.

I see a phone number on the site, but when I tried to call, it just rang and rang. Can you send me a direct message with a contact name and email address?
I’d love to get the info to send to other instructors that might be interested in teaching this course. Do you know if PADI pays the original instructor that came up with the idea a commission for every person that takes the course? If not, they should.

And here I thought underwater pumpkin carving was a creative activity around Halloween time. Boy was I wrong! LMAO

We are going to run it again around halloween!

I want to see some pictures! Next class you have, take some pics of all the zombie divers and post on DiveBuddy. If you don’t have a DiveBuddy banner, let me know and I’ll see if I have an extra to send to you so you can take a picture with that :) That would be cool.

No problem. Why don’t you make your way up?

From davethediver: Why don’t you make your way up? Dude that would be awesome! But work and possibly moving soon is keeping me grounded for the summer. Next time I’m up your way, I’ll let you know.

This sounds like a lot of fun! What do you suggest as the PADI level required for this?

|

This class was awesome. We certified 12 divers for the apocalypse! We are going to do this again in October so I’ll keep you posted. It was more intense than I thought. So much involved. Like "Scubadelphia" on facebook for up to date info.
