Wet suit recommendation

We are heading to the outer banks (North Carolina) the first week of Sept, I was there some years ago and remember the ocean being quite warm, but wasn’t diving. So I am looking for some input as to wet suits, mostly shore diving but if the sea is good I wouldn’t mind some day trips. Any help would be great.
Thanks
Ben

This time of year, the water should be in upper 70s. I wore a 5mm long last time and felt fine. Use our scuba earth page to find dive sites in NC and click a few to see what the summer temp is.

We are going to be there mid-August. I am planning on diving a 3mm with a hooded corewarmer. So, I will be about 6 at the core and the hood is a 5. My buddy is seriously considering his DUI and going dry. I havent quite gotten there yet. Just checked the bouys in the area and the water temp is currently running 79f. Have fun!

you can also log onto this site an see if there’s any buoys in the area which store data about the water conditions. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/

I usually am fime with a 3 mil there that time of year but pack a hooded vest to add in case of an up-welling although you usually don’t find out about them until after the giantstride :(

outer banks, deepest 125 feet, wreck diving, use a 5-mil, and hood, and gloves. carry a 30cu pony bottle.
