Every time I see your posts I go a little more crazy and look at my calendar and count how many more days until I am in Florida, it is still a lot. I will keep in touch though as when March hits I will be wanting to dive as much as possible while I am down there.

How about Hudson Grotto?

No, on Hudson Grotto. I appreciate & know the folks at Scuba West but that place has almost zero visibility and you come out smelling ... not so good. I’ll do that dive when Jeff has some kind event there, or if I go with students.
Suggest another place and perhaps I will meet ya.

Have you been to blue heron bridge? I’ll take that dive over a spring dive any day. Just throwing that out there.

I have not, although I have heard only good things about Blue Heron Bridge. I think the springs are a great place to practice basic skills and to enjoy some of Florida’s natural but can’t see myself being a redundant spring diver.

Blue Heron Bridge is on my to do list but takes planning with the tides. Would like to plan a night or two to get some boat dives in on the same trip.

Blue Heron is done best at slack tide. Force E has excellent maps, which should be adhered to there. It is a shore dive that they do daily. I am going to plan a weekend there, because it is something I have wanted to do too.

Shore dives are a good thing & also very good experience.

Venice is also another area for fun shore dives. Although the shark teeth are not as abundant as they used to be! Still there though and always fun to find.

Hospital Hole is on my wish list but I hear the sulfide layer will stink you up. Buford is another but it is a advanced remote dive! Preferably go with someone who has been there before. Advanced safe divers is a must!!! Everyone says Buford is a awsome dive. Have not done Spanish rocks in a long time free shore dive for any certification level!

I do not have DAN o2 do you? I have to get that for dives such as these I just posted a dive map for Blue Heron on my profile - not sure how to get it here. Feel free to pluck it and drop it here. Credit for the map does not go to me, but to Force E (I think)

I have Dan insurance. But I have not been certified to get oxygen. Maybe not bad to look into doing more advanced diving. Maybe it could be combined with other training I am considering? Maybe deco and or heltrox for longer or deeper dives?

Just did Blue Heron for the first time a couple times this past weekend. It’s a great dive, lots of stuff to see. We saw a couple spotted eagle rays, octopi, lobster, crabs, starfish, a moray eel or two, shrimp, scorpion fish, lots of reef fish, a sea horse, and plenty of critters I don’t even know what they were.

Yeah during the winter months when the water temp drops the parrot fish and big sheep headshow up. I’ve done venice beach a few times. I didn’t have any trouble finding sharks teeth around those big rocks out there. Only thing bad about venice is it doesn’t always have the best viz. Hope to one day get out there on that fossil shelf.

Let me know when you coming down south for a Blue Heron dive, there is an east and a west sight.

Visibility is not great lately
