Hi!
I am new to the scuba training, but not to the underwater world. I have gone on ’adventure’ dives numerous times throughout my travels, and now finally decided to get my certification. (I know, a little late). I have started my training at my local dive center here in Cincinnati, Ohio and learning the correct way. I will be accomplishing my OW dives this September in Curacao and can’t wait.
My past diving experience, which have all been 15 years ago, has been in Bermuda, Bahamas, and Key Largo ... all warm water. I do not have any extra body fat on me, so I have no interest in cold water diving.
To be honest, I am no longer comfortable being in the water, therefore I decided to take lessons to get over that trepidation. It is not that I do not know how to swim, or snorkel ... but a fear of the unknown. You are only afraid of that which you do not understand, so it is high time that I conquer that realm. The other obstacle that I must deal with is that my father died while scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. He had an aortic aneurysm and passed away shortly after surfacing. I know that he would want me to pursue my diving adventures just as he supported my flying ventures.
Two years ago I purchased land and built my dream paradise home on the Dutch island of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. I have even more of an incentive now to get my AOW so that I can discover the underwater world in my own back yard. My vacation/rental home called, Flamingo Villa, sleeps 12 and overlooks the Caribbean Sea and is the perfect getaway. http://www.FlamingoVilla.com
As I am in my late 40’s, single and travel often, I now have the opportunity to enjoy life. I am looking for dive buddies that I can connect with and share my new environment. Any advice would be welcomed, but please be gentle.
Kind regards
