Michael from Hopatcong NJ | Scuba Diver

My name’s Mike and I love to travel to exotic diving locales and would love to meet like-minded individuals that are up for a good dive centered trip. So far I’ve been to the Cook Islands, Bonaire, Roatan, Bunaken Island (Indonesia), Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, Grand Cayman, North Carolina, the Hawaiian Islands (Kona side of Hawaii, Maui, Molokini back wall and Lanai), Thailand (I might be in love with that place), and most recently MEXICO (Holbox Island, Isla Mujeres, and Cozumel). I am also into shore diving locally too, and love bringing my camera down to check out what’s down there. You’d be surprised what’s down there (for those locals that have yet to experience what NJ has to offer). I try to head down every other week or so during the summer/fall when conditions allow. If you don’t mind having a buddy that is looking for critters and spends time behind the lens setting up shots, I’d be glad to dive with you.

Diving Shark River this coming Sunday. If anyone knows any charters still going out let me know. Also if anyone is interested in ice diving, not sure it will happen as of now), I go upstate every year with a group. Looking to get more divers into it. Its an unforgettable experience.

Mike, I’m new to this site. I dive Belmar and the Manasquan inlet regularly aka Point. We are diving Point today (weather and vis permitting). 3PM High Tide. Somewhat of a search project for me. Trying to recover my speargun.

If you would like to join us today or on the future let me know.

Thanks for the invite Don...I am actually working today, but I am off next week on Thursday and Friday, if weather and tide is good, I’d dive with you. You’re talking about by Spikes Fish Market, correct?

Sounds good. I still have not checked the water. A couple of the guys I dive with have had to cancel, so I may end up in Shark River. When I get a chance I will IM you my info.

Shark River was good last week, there are still butterfly fish there, we found 4 on Black Friday.

The water vis excellent today. We will be diving tomorrow in Point at about 4pm. Don

Check out this site for a survey completed on the Great Barrier Reef. Beautiful photography, but the coolest feature (in my opinion) is the "virtual dive" tool. You can literally check these site out; looking up and down, explore along the reef wall, and even the ability to zoom in if you see something neat along the way.

Hi Mike,
We dove last mon. Would you be interested in diving at dutch springs on sat?
If you want to go please give me a call 484-554-5224 thanks,
m_grieco - 10/03/2014 10:03 AM
I work on Saturdays so that wouldn’t work unfortunately (plus it’s too cold there, I only have that 3mm suit plus my 5mm hood, I think I’d get too cold). I possible dive where we dove last time on Sunday/Monday if you’re open for that. Let me know.

Thanks for getting back to me Mike. Sun I’m on a boat dive if it doesn’t get blown out. Mon I have to work.

I’m in Bonaire right now! The diving is amazing!
m_grieco - 10/20/2012 7:59 AM
Yes, I remeber Bonaire well. Someday I’ll end up back there...still lots of other places I’d like to dive.
B4UDive - 9/29/2012 3:54 PM
Thanks for accepting request!

You have some pretty amazing photos!

Thanks for the compliments...I’m currently using a Sealife camera (the DC 1000) and I’m using two Sealife 961 Pro-Digital strobes. I’m looking to upgrade soon though, I won a trip to somewhere in the south Pacific late April/early May, so I’ll definitely be posting more pictures and writing up another blog. Thanks again for the compliment.
