Radio Island Dive

Headed out to watch the family dive the rock wall at Radio Island, it was perfect weather for the dive. Launched the boat with no problems, headed to Olympus Dive center to rent the air tanks and some regulators. We were able to dock the boat at their pier, tie off, go rent the tanks and the regulators, oh don’t forget extra weights. They also had ice for sale which we needed since we forgot the ice! everyone at Olympus was very nice and very helpful. Thank you Olympus dive center, we will be back. Made it to Radio Island during slack tide, noticed that Discovery Dive had a boat out there with some divers, many divers in the area to be exact. All 3 family members got geared up and dove the rock wall down to the sand and then along the wall. Us snorkeling did fine until we encountered a sand shark, so back on the boat for us chickens. In hindsite it was a baby shark, we should have stayed in the water! We then headed to the shackelford island area to do some shallow dives, came away with about 25 sand dollars, and also came across some live ones, those we left. Also found the egg purses of sting rays. All in all except for my very bad injury it was a great day. Headed back in to the docks, swung around to Olympus dive center, returned the rental gear and went on to load up the boat. Today the rest of the family will be diving and or snorkeling the Neuse river, another good day. I will be resting and recovering from my injury. Pictures and more to follow another day.

Kudos to Olympus Dive center.
