I am making a trip to New Bern N.C. and was told there is good diving out of Moorehead, does anyone know the best places to go?

I have dove there with Olympus and they are a real quality outfit. Be prepared for the boat not going out due to rough seas though. If you can get out it is well worth the trip. It is best to contact them well in advance to find out which shop has the boat for the weekend; then you can contact the shop about an opening. The u-boat is assume but very deep....Tom

Tonya..I dove there last summer..Dive centers/boats are actually in Atlantic Beach, the neighboring town. I dove with Atlantic Beach Diving on the Mutiny. They moor next to the dive boats out of Olympus Dive Center. Both are good. My dive group is going back to Atlantic Beach Diving this year, they are a smaller operation than Olympus, and maybe a little more personable. The diving is great...depths to 100+ feet with moderate currents. The wrecks are awesome, but it takes a two hour boat ride to reach them. The weather/seas play a major role in that area. Seas of 3-5 ft are common, so are cancelled trips because of bad diving weather/seas/current. So be prepared, take your sea sickness meds...Good Luck and Good Diving.

Tonya,
There are just a ton of wrecks off the coast of NC/SC and probably in the next couple of week the sand tiger sharks will be in and they are all over the wrecks there. The temps just need to be a little higher.

I dive a lot out of Wilmington NC and hope to get up toward Morehead City this year. Look up or call Olympus Dive Center (http://www.olympusdiving.com). I have not personal dove with them but have heard good things.

Have fun and let me know how it goes. Dive safe.
