Lake Nueces is a part of the Nueces River flowing down from Real (pronounced Ree-All) County into Uvalde County. The river is dammed just west of TX Hwy 55 near the Real / Uvalde County line, forming "Lake Nueces".
Dive site access can be gained at Cooksey Park which is located approximately three (3) miles south of Camp Wood, Texas on Hwy 55. Cooksey Park offers day use access at the cost of $3/person or on-site camping accomodations.
Lake Nueces is a clear water, spring fed site which offers easy drift conditions and good visibility. The depths are shallow ranging between 3’ at dam to 14’ further up river. Various marine life can be found including trout which are stocked yearly.
