Planier Island ME-109G is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Marseille, Planier Iland, France. The maximum depth is 141-150ft/43-46m. The average visibility is 31-35ft/9-11m.
This wreck near the island Planier south of Marseille is one of the nicest wrecks in southern france. It is upside down on the ground in a depth of about 45 meters. There is a detailed story about the last mission of this aircraft and his pilot: Hans "im Glück" Fahrenberger. He was in service for the JG27 in greece, russia, france and germany. He managed and survived 6 emergengy landing or parachute jumps. Mr. Fahrenberger died in munich in the 10th october 2009.
Marseille. German fighters tried to intercept over the mediterranean sea south of Marseille. The aicraft of Hans Fahrenberger was damaged, he managed an emergency landing near the island of Planier.
