The Caves is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located in Ayer’s Cliff, QC, Canada.
They are located just under a grove of large cedars which is itself just to the left of a small rock wall about twenty feet high. The base of the trees has been painted red but the paint is difficult to see from a distance. So you will have to follow the shore slowly. To find it underwater you have to go down to 23 feet and swim along the cliff (it is just a little to the left of the cedars). Here, you have to anchor yourself on the trees because the bottom is more than 200 feet. The cave has an opening of one meter by two and is about five meters long, going up a little. You enter one at a time. You will need a good lamp to explore all the crevices. Despite its small size, it nevertheless gives an interest to this site and an interesting scenario is to do a dive on the adjacent cliff and finish by visiting the small cavern. For those who wish to explore a little further, there is at least one other cavity located a few dozen meters further south. This one is however more difficult to locate.
