My 14 year old is certified as a junior ow. she doesn’t want to take it any further. Somehow she developed a bad fear of "JAWS".

My son was certified at 15. He and I have been diving since then. We dove almost once each month, with an extended weekend Key Largo trip each summer. I can’t explain in words how valuable that time has been for me. I’m sure it will become ever more valuable for him also, as the years go by, and he looks back. We have dove wrecks, springs, ocean drift dives/reefs, and night dives. Unfortunately for me, his interests are becoming more diverse recently, and he is has not been in the water for a number of months. He is 21 now, and if we never dive again, I will not complain since the memories to date are priceless. Enjoy your dive time with your daughter !!!

None of my kids dive, but I have the same issue as LatitudeAdjustment as to where they are game for most things as long as dad pays.

My 13 year old is half way through his OW class and loves it. He is already picking out dive sites for the summer.

My son got certified first, then convinced my wife and me to learn. But, he was 30 years old at the time, so a little off the subject here. Just wanted to confirm comments above that diving with your kids is great, no matter their ages.

I’ve been certified for over 20 years and just got my kids certified over 1 1/2 years ago when they were 15 and 13. We dove several springs in North Florida and then took a dive trip to Key Largo their first summer of diving. Last summer we dove 10 times together and have even more planned this summer. It’s a fantastic feeling knowing that you’ve passed your love of scuba on to the next generation!

My nieces and nephews learned to dive between the ages of 8 and 12, and here we are almost 30 years later and most are still diving! Great fun, exciting adventures, more memories to make.
