I have used both. It really depends on your preference. I really look for a soft nosecup. There are alot of good masks on the market with or without purges. I have allowed people to try my mask if they ask nicely. If you feel pressure from your local LDS, there is always another one. In fairness, You don’t NEED a purge, but if you don’t like having a little water in your nosecup, It may be the thing for you. Each style of mask has it’s pros anc cons. You get to decide what best suits you and what kind of diving you will be doing. I hope this helps.
