Purely personal preference. I had a watch with a rotating bezel but kept forgetting to set it once I got in the water as I was busy with the rest of my gear, myself and getting ready to decend. With this one I just note the time I drop and then go. Plus the light is pretty good underwater in the dark. (better than my computer light)
