Here’s what I’d like to see:
If there’s a DiveBuddy.com member with a trailer within 100 miles of Greg, stand up and take tomorrow off. Recruit some buddies for a rescue and recovery mission. The rest of us can shop online at Walmart.com and specify a "Ship to Store" option. The crew with the trailer can pick it all up (prepaid, of course) and give Greg the surprise of his life. Back at the shop, the base team can let other members near Greg know that there’s a support squad nearby. Done in a day. Great practice for the next disaster. Great story for Greg’s local paper and the dive rags.

Hey everyone! We made it! Only one roof leak and my brother and I fixed that while the storm was still on top of us :) I’m sitting at a coffee shop in College Station right now for electric and internet connection. They say our power might be down for several more days.
As far as a recovery operation...if there are divebuddy members that have been greatly affected by this storm...please let me know. I have a truck and a trailer right now and would be more than happy to make some rounds. So send me a private message if you need anything and we’ll see what we can do. I’m sure I can rally together a few other members in the area that weren’t really affected that would love to help out!
Sincerely,
Greg Davis Owner and Member 1 DiveBuddy.com

Glad to hear Greg and family is ok. Hurricane Ike hit Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois hard this weekend. Unlike Texas and Louisiana, immediate assistance to victims has been unavailable and electrical power and water will be out for weeks. So if you can help, your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

Plz send contact information, I was unaware of this. Electric is still out by Greg and many other areas of houston. Who can we send assistance to ?

WOW,
Hey Greg;
I was just looking at some pictures from Ike. Where are you located?
Some of those areas look as bad as New Orleans did a few years back.
Just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Stay safe...!

It is bad, some of the rowns along the coast are either gone or mainly destroyed. Greg is in the Huntsville TX area, still with out power and he needs to travel out of town to find satelite connection. That is what he did yesterday. Hard to find gas for vehicle also. Many people in his area are in need of assistance. We are trying to locate divebuddy members in the houston area that need assistance or that can provide assistance. Send help or ask for help if you are a dive buddy member.
Thank you

I’m now using my two battery backups to power my satellite and laptop...when I’m in an area with power, I’ll charge my laptop and both battery backups. That way I can get a couple hours worth of internet connection while still at home. Should be another week or so without power. Thanks for all your concern. Greg.

Hi Greg
I know I am a long ways away but the WalMart idea is a good one. If you need anything or if you know of anyone that needs help let me know and I will do what I can. Glad to hear you and the family are alright!

Hey Greg, Sounds like you guys should follow the example of some other Texans I ran into the other night. When I stopped by Shaw’s Cove over here in Laguna Beach, CA I helped a couple of divers up out of the surf and found out they were out here from Galveston. Figured they would enjoy their time underwater, instead of trying to survive in it. Good luck to everyone back there.
