Gennie Springs has no restriction for Full Cave Certified Divers. If you are OW or AOW you are not allowed in the Devil System.
If you were there on Memorial Day Weekend I can understand the frustration. Gennie Springs is the last place you want to be if you are going diving. What is your Certification Level? Gennie has a long list of deaths in the cave system. They are trying to do their best to avoid any new fatalities.

The temperature of the aer in he cave is 69 degrees with the viz arpund 40 ft. 6/62014 dive.

Cave at Blue Grotto. Dove this last weekend. Short System and Silty. We kept it clean but this cave is not for beginners. youtu.be/B3edM0x-yxY

In a cavern you have to get out to get up. All certified cavern and cave divers are aware of the differences.

By the way, I don’t dive it. I am uncomfortable allowing new divers in any overhead environment, or should I say and untrained diver in any overhead environment.

I do believe that no diver should ever dive above their training.

It is a totally new experience both in the cave and equipment. The only thing I have from my open water dive equipment that I use in the cave is my mask. Other than that everything is new, Tanks, Regulators, Hoses, Boots, Dry Suit, Harness, Primary Light and 2 Backup Light, Fins, slates, computer ( Shearwater Petrel). It got pretty expensive with all the training and the equipment.

A real commitment.

Al, Jen and I finally, finally received our Cavern cards from NACD after waiting 2+ months, and now we’re plotting our course to take Intro to Cave. Can’t say as I’m ready to switch all my gear out, or buy new stuff just yet, but who knows what the future holds...maybe.

I have over 200 logged dives and am a Certified Cave Diver. If you live in the Gainesville Fl area you are welcome to join mw and my buddies in weekend cave diving.

We also at times go on trips to dive Salt Water for treasures or wrecks.

Thanks for helping with the dive site section, but be sure to search first to see if the dive site already exists. In the case of two of the dive sites I’ve checked so far, both have already existed. Let me know if you have questions.

I am diving Orange Sink on my way to the back of the cavern. I also dive Peacock when I go there.
